Paraguayan Welcoming

Found on the map of Asunción
Tratar bien al turista conlleva el mensaje de la buena imagen paraguaya. Coayude en el esfuerzo por conquistar a los turistas que visitan nuestra tierra.
Taking care of tourists brings the message of paraguayan´s good image. Help on the effort to conquer tourists who visit our land.

JAGUA

Means dog in guaraní
Why do we talk about it?
Karasa, the clownfamily´s dog was pregnant.
A new member came to join the family!
There are 5 brown ones of whom we know the father -Killer-, and 2 grey ones of whom only Karasa knows...

We ate, drunk, laughed and of course blowed our candles.

00h05 ARTURO: 48, very well blowed, ¨las malas lenguas¨, were talking about viagra to face the blowing!!

BochínTeatroClown (Shelter family)

When they told us they were working outside the city, we would have never thought of a job as clowns!!

But it is not payasos working for kids, but clowns working in social projects for disadvantaged families, gender protection...
Their group is called BochínTeatroClown
Marisa, the mother who we haven´t met as she´s in Spain, Jorge, the father, and Aura the daughter.
Thank you for your amazing welcoming!!
We felt as at home, just to say we arrived on monday, and on wednesday they left again in charge of the dog, -Karasa-, the chickens, the house...

Trip and Arrival to Asunción

Panteón de la plaza de los Héroes. In memory of the soldiers dead on la Guerra de la Triple Allianza.
Paraguay fought against Brasil, Argentina and Uruguay, and lost 90% all of young males.
A flag is haul up and down every day.
It is said, that the unfaithfulness of the Paraguayans, is due to the fact of the need of population after the war...

We took a cab to cross the border, and then to the bus station.
Stamp out Brazil, stamp in Paraguay. (done by a little kid of about 10 years old)
Arrival to the mythical Ciudad del Este (of smuggling and gunrunning), and you see immediatly a huge change, in architecture, race, atmosphere... Very interesting!
4h30min to Asunción, if you don´t count the stops to pick up people who sell newspapers, sunglasses, chipa (traditional bread with a bit of taste of anisette)... but not with the purpose of tourist selling, (as there are not many...), and because you find it in every bus you take in Asunción...

At our arrival to the station, we called our shelter family who told us they were working outside the city, and would meet the following day.
We then went to the hotel La Española (of course) to spend our first night.
We had read on the newspapers there was a free jazz concert on the Brazil embassy.
Let´s go then!
At the way out, we stopped a guy to ask for a nice bar to have a beer.
Not only he brought us to the nice bar, but introduced us his friends and partied the whole night.
Viva Sebastián!!
